Developing a complete new health care platform for Amrita Nutrition in just 5 months.
Challenge
Founded in the UK back in 2007, Amrita Nutrition has developed into a leading provider of high-quality, premium nutritional supplements to (medical) practitioners worldwide. The Amrita team operating out of Amsterdam, focussing on the global market, continued to run in technical barriers with their .com ecommerce shop. Originally build as a native Shopify store, in a time when Shopify didn’t offer the minimum required features out of the box, like multilingual, contextual search and more it build upon customisation upon customisation. Especially as the practitioner-only service required customisations that do not come ‘out-of-box’ in Ecom land.
Thus a legacy collection of .NET custom code, 3rd party Shopify apps and a Tech partner in another country/time zone resulted into a successful (in terms of revenue growth) webshop that stood absolutely still in terms of design/improvement and strategic alignment towards adding more value to practitioners.
With an ambitious strategic outlook and great market opportunities the need was adamant: the site needs to change, now!
- No more 3rd party dependencies, to become more flexible
- UX and design improvement to improve usability, especially for mobile performance
- Answer to much requested features and needs, to support their practitioners with more value
- To add new, breakthrough services and empower the vision to become the most trusted healthcare provider
Solution
With a solid strategic design ready and waiting to be build, Zinzo got off on a great start to use these designs as starting point. With the clear objective develop a new ecommerce platform that’s future proof and not depending on 3rd party suppliers, we concluded and advised to rebuild the site into a headless commerce solution with a Python-build core and connect it to the Shopify Plus Ecom backend.
Results – a headless commerce solution with a flexible core, ready for future development
Completed in ca. 5 months’ time, the Zinzo development team deployed the full redesign:
- On top of the existing Shopify Plus backend – all config/integrations remained unchanged (much to the joy of the finance & logistical departments)
- Complete redesign towards a cleaner, more modern look-and-feel
- Improved integration with the PIM product integrations
- Improved search replacing Algolia Search with an Open Source alternative
